Since he was a WWII vet, a sailor stationed on Kwajalen, The Marshall Islands, the interrment included a couple of sailors who played taps on the bugle and ceremoniously folded the flag that had been draped over his casket, then presented it to my brother, Steve.
I loved that part of the day.
Everyone shared something special about my dad. He was so dear to the entire family. So full of wisdom, kindness, and love.
I'm blessed to have been able to call him my dad.
The youngest of the family, Tom, has written a great account of Dad's life on his blog, tombougher.blogspot.com.
